Simple SolutionFirst off sorry if this solution offends the fun of this post, but these type of things intrigue me and I had to decode it. So to begin the situation distracts the reader from the actual cost of 97$. Now, you can afford the shirt and 100 - 97 = 3. So now you are stuck with 3$ and give one to your mom, one to your dad, and one for you. Here’s the part where it comes together; the goal is not to equal 100, but it needs to equal 98.Why 98: The shirt cost 97$ and you kept 1$ to yourself, 97 + 1 = 98. Since you gave your parents 1$ each, 1 + 1 = 2. You now have two extra dollars, oh look 98 + 2 = 100. Pure genius, there was never a missing dollar. The fact you kept one to yourself distracts the fact that there should be 98 dollars owed.
